About the role

Reporting to Regional Human Resources Vice President or Senior Human Resources Business Partner for Global Division. Will make a significant contribution to the development of company policy pertaining to the area. Long-term strategy and overall business philosophy and objectives typically guide this role. Heads a team of professional and support staff and will focus on all areas of Human Resources activity areas within a medium to large section of the organisation.

Ensures optimal Human Resources processes for AZ Austria, in line with global, regional and local strategy. Along with internal projects and main subjects this position compromises strategic consulting of all AstraZeneca teams in HR questions as well as the representation of AstraZeneca Austria to all internal and external applicants. Securing of all HR related issues and processes as well as optimal support of Human Resources in all AZ Austria departments

Key Responsibilities

Conducts activities and interactions consistent with Company values and in compliance with the Code of Conduct and supporting Policies and Standards relevant to your role. Completes all required training on the AZ Code of Conduct and supporting Policies and Standards on time, reports any potential issues of non-compliance.

HR People agenda and strategy

  • Develops and implements HR policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with global guidelines, relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Provides strategic guidance and support to HR team members and business leaders on HR-related matters, including performance development, employee relations, and workforce planning.

  • Leads organizational development efforts to enhance employee performance, engagement, and retention levels

  • Partners with senior leadership to assess organizational needs and develop strategies to build a high-performing and resilient workforce.

  • Representation of the HR department in the SMT with focus on talent and people management as well as leadership development

  • Contact person for and consulting of CP, SMT, leadership team, works council and all employees in all HR issues

  • Allocation of employees (internal and external) and support in decision making based on long term analysis of manpower requirements including succession planning

Employer branding, talent and succession management

  • Designs and implements talent management programs, succession planning initiatives, and career development pathways to support employee growth and development.

  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver training programs on effective communication skills and techniques.

  • Leads succession planning efforts to identify and develop high-potential employees for key leadership positions within local and regional DACH / WESE team

  • Partners with hiring managers to assess talent needs, develop job success profiles, and implements respective selection processes to fill business critical roles.

  • Develops and implements HR policies, procedures, and guidelines in compliance with global directives, relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

  • Provides strategic guidance and support to HR team members and business leaders on HR-related matters, including performance management, employee relations, and workforce planning.

  • Reinforces employer branding initiatives for example “employer of choice” and reinforcement of traineeship cooperation with local or national universities

Engagement and communication

  • Defines and promotes the company's culture, values, and employer brand, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

  • Fosters a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes diversity, equity, and belonging.

  • Develops and implements employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and activities to enhance morale and employee satisfaction.

  • Develops and executes communication strategies to effectively engage employees and stakeholders across the organization.

  • Oversees internal communication channels, including intranet portals, and town hall meetings, to ensure timely and transparent communication of company news and updates.

Change management initiatives

  • Lead change management initiatives to facilitate organizational change and transformation in close collaboration with global and regional HR teams

  • Partners with stakeholders to assess change readiness, develop change management plans, and communicate effectively to mitigate resistance and drive adoption.

  • Implementation of all global policies that affect HR

  • Ensure cost efficient HR work with focus on value adding deliveries by reinforcing digital system adaptation and future ways of working

  • Acts as “sounding board” to the CP and the SMT

SSHE

  • SSHE (Safety, health and Environment) Responsibility as SMT member guiding SHE Coordinator

  • Securing and Implementing global SHE SOP at AstraZeneca Austria

  • Securing compliance with all standards and guidelines, audit reporting and SHE Committee set up

  • Implementation of relevant annual actions and projects in alignment with global strategic directives

  • Communication of SHE related topics to overall organisation

Capability Development

  • Quarterly attendance of external HR or pharmaceutical events, conference to ensure latest HR updates or change integrations

Essential Criteria & Skills

  • University graduate in human resources, business management, or any equivalent BS degree in human resources

  • Chartered CIPD or Fellow CIPD, SHIC Membership accreditation

  • Proven work experience in a similar role in multinational matrix company and previous industry sector

  • Excellent command in English and German (written and spoken)

  • Strategic planning 

  • Commercial awareness

  • Analytical business and audit reporting skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Thorough knowledge of labour legislation, HR best practices

  • Proficient in MS Office

  • Ability to work with new technologies

  • Driving license B

  • Displays high levels of communication and interpersonal skills

  • Highly self-motivated, meticulous, able to work under pressure

  • High level or resilience and change agility
